Adil Baguirov

Since being elected to the Dayton Board of Education in 2013, the positive impact of Adil Baguirov has certainly been felt by Dayton Public Schools. Along with being a member of the Dayton Board of Education, Adil Baguirov is a small business owner of a premier logistics and transportation company in North Dayton, a commercial real estate investor, an author of several academic books and articles, as well as a speaker, lecturer and moderator at academic conferences, university-level classes and think tanks.

Adil Baguirov has used the knowledge and experience that he has gained in all of these different roles, as well as his passion for education, technology and fiscal accountability, to help make a lasting and meaningful change to Dayton Public Schools.

Adil Baguirov believes that education, technology and fiscal accountability are prerequisites for the strong and prosperous future of any community or nation, and he uses that ideology to make sound judgments as a member of the Dayton Board of Education.

When Adil Baguirov was running to be elected to the Dayton Board of Education, he revolved his campaign around three major promises: More and higher-quality technology; better cultural and academic curriculum; and greater financial transparency and accountability.

In his time with the Dayton Board of Education, Adil Baguirov has made major strides in all of these areas for Dayton Public Schools. In terms of technology, he rolled out the one-to-one technology initiative for K-12 in Dayton Public Schools within one year of being elected. Adil Baguirov also helped implement special academic intervention software for students, which helps them and their parents regularly track academic results from a new phone app.

In order to improve the cultural and academic curriculum in Dayton Public Schools, Adil Baguirov ushered in a complete update and overhaul of the DPS curriculum and teaching. And when it comes to financial transparency and accountability, Adil Baguirov has made waves in Dayton Public Schools by establishing the Office of the Independent Internal Auditor. He also increased cash reserves to 10 percent, as is required by rating agencies, reduced administrative expenditures by directing more funds into the classrooms, and made Dayton Public Schools the first urban district to join the OhioCheckbook Transparency Initiative.

Additional issues have also been improved within Dayton Public Schools under the guidance of Adil Baguirov, including transportation, which had been neglected by the Dayton Board of Education for many years. Adil Baguirov was a major advocate on the Dayton Board of Education for the financing of 115 brand-new, top-of-the-line school buses with a 10-year bumper-to-bumper warranty at a 2.06 percent interest rate. The students of DPS can now get to school safer and more comfortably thanks to the efforts of Adil Baguirov and his colleagues.

Adil Baguirov was certainly faced with a tall task when he joined the Dayton Board of Education four years ago. After all, he was joining the board of an urban, high-poverty school district that was ranked second-poorest in Ohio out of 608 districts.

But with his vision of modernization and better overall education, Adil Baguirov has made Dayton Public Schools better than when he arrived.
